Removal of Silicic Acid from Feed Water Using a Tiron Combined Anion Exchange Resin Column

Thorough removal of silicic acid from treated water, as a water pretreatment procedure, is essential for the prevention silica deposits on anion exchange resins and reverse osmosis membranes. In this study, thorough was achieved using Tiron (1,2-dihydroxy-3,5-benzendisulfonate) combined resin. column experiment, it confirmed that could be removed below detection limit molybdenum-blue methods. Tiron, which can form stable 1:3 Si-Tiron complex in aqueous solutions, merges (Tiron resin) exhibits strong ability over wide pH range (pH 2–10). regeneration process, easily resin through treatment 2, HCl), mild alkaline 8, NaOH solution) used to restore ability.
